Celebrating 50 Years in Business!
SpecMaster, Inc. Celebrates its 50-Year Anniversary.
Fifty years ago, Led Zeppelin made their US debut at Auditorium Arena in Denver, Colorado. The year was 1968.
This same year Boeing unveiled the 747, Apollo 8 was the first manned spacecraft to orbit the moon, and construction began on the Straight Creek Tunnel (now known as the Eisenhower Tunnel).
Founded, owned and operated by the Shaver family since 1968!
1968 was a big year for the Shaver family as well, it was the year that Richard decided to start the family business.
Started as Commercial Pattern, the company began by manufacturing patterns for the sand casting industry. As manufacturing and industry shifted, we began to focus on model making and prototyping for Gerry Baby Products and Samsonite.
1968 at a glance:
- Average cost of a new house: $ 14,950
- Average Income per year: $ 7,850
- Gas price average: . 34 cents/gallon
- Minimum Wage: $ 1.60/ Hour
In 1990 Bill, the son of Richard, bought Commercial Pattern. With Bill Shaver now at the reigns, the company continued to progress and transform. In 1992 Commercial Pattern bought a SLA-250 Sterolithography (SLA) printer, the first commercialized 3D printer. At the time, we had one of only 300 in the world.
In 2002, we officially became SpecMaster, Inc. changing our focus to precision CNC machining, prototyping and low to medium volume production.
